I thought I was going to spend a weekend with an interesting elder, learning what plants the Cherokee used to heal specific diseases.
Before my training was done, we would meet 4 times a year, for four years. In sixteen visits, he changed how I looked a healing with plants, he changed how I viewed my entire world.
I came for healing, to learn what plants healed what. I left with a complete transformation in how I perceived healing and the world.

When he said this to a group, people would nod their heads, agree, then quickly forget. They would ask him again and again, “what is that plant good for?” This plant is good for the woman who lives nearby.
They would ask, “What plant heals cancer?” He would tell them almost EVERY plant cures cancer. They didn’t get the power of what he was trying to share with them. He wanted them to see that specific plants they were being given to each person, to heal themselves.
